Stoke City is looking to find another buyer for the Honduras international William Palacios whose signing for a Qatar based club couldn’t get completed because of his poor fitness.
That deal had reached the final stages and Palacios just had to pass the medical test for it to get done, but, he was not able to pass that and thus, he had to make his way back to Stoke.
The Stoke manager Mark Hughes has been having regular chats with Palacios’ representative to see if there is anything which can be done about the player in the remaining few days of the window.
Nobody would have thought that Palacios would prove to be such a big flop when he had come to Stoke three years ago in 2011. Six million Pounds were spent by the Potters to have him in.
Palacios has not managed to justify his signing at the Britannia Stadium at all. Some would say that he has just not got enough time to play because of injuries and that’s true to some extent, but, even during the patches in which his fitness has been alright, he hasn’t shined for the team and it would not be harsh to say that he’s been a bit of a burden on Stoke in the last couple of seasons.
Some success at the international level back in Brazil recently might have boosted Palacios confidence, but, he had a hard time there as well. A red card in the opening game itself got his confidence level down. When he came back after the one-game suspension, he was looking clueless.
Stoke City is on the pre season tour of Germany at the moment and Palacios is expected to join his teammates there very soon.
