Santi Cazorla signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal

Santi Cazorla signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal to end any interest from Spanish clubs.

The midfielder has been an excellent buy from Mallorca. He has been one of the key players in the squad over the last couple of years. Quality provided by such players has enabled Arsenal not just end the trophy drought that went on for almost a decade, but also claim back-to-back success in the league. Along with Cazorla, Theo Walcott also extended his contract with the gunners. His future has been under major speculation since he had just 12 months left on his contract.

This would have allowed him to talk with foreign clubs from January, but all interested parties will have to look elsewhere after the England star signed a new long-term contract. Walcott expressed his happiness at being able to stay at Arsenal for longer. He also lavished the praise on his teammate Cazorla by labelling him as the best player in the Premier League. The Spaniard was certainly one of the most consistent from last season since the performances of Alexis Sanchez tailed off towards the end of the campaign. Walcott also says that he is looking to learn a lot from Cazorla in the upcoming campaign.

“My little buddy Santi! Looking at his stats, assist-wise he has been among the best in the Premier League for the last four years. Having him in the team [is great].He’s blessed, he’s a fantastic player and can play left or right footed. To continue playing football with him is a nice partnership. [Solidarity] is the sign of a successful team. When players stay and stick together you see the success come out.You look at the old Manchester United and Arsenal sides and they were teams who stayed together. They just built on success after every year,” said Walcott.
