Stoke city manager Tony Pulis has said that he is extremely delighted with his team’s performance in the recent 1-1 draw with Everton on Wednesday night.
It was a match that meant little to both teams, but Stoke city play with a positive attitude.
Both Stoke City and Everton do not have a lot to play for in the remaining two matches of the season, but there was a fantastic attitude amongst both sets of players. Stoke city manager Tony Pulis said after the match that he was extremely delighted with the result and the performance of his players.
Stoke city have managed to comfortably avoid relegation this season, but targeting a top-10 finish would be the main aspect of next season according to Tony Pulis. Stoke spent a lot of money on players this season, but it has not translated into a jump in the league positions. There are currently 13th in the table, although they do have the opportunity to get into the top half of the table if results go their way in the remaining two matches of the season. However, Tony Pulis said that he could not find fault in his players after having achieved safety in the Premier league once again.
“I thought Everton were the better side in the first half. Their goal was a bit fortuitous but they deserved it. We were better in the second half and deserved the draw,” said Tony Pulis after the match. Meanwhile, Everton manager David Moyes said that his side has deserved a top-10 finish this season. “I’ll be pleased if we finish in the top 10. If you’d offered me that at the start of the season, I’d have taken it. I thought we played very well and were unlucky not to take more from it,” said David Moyes.
